[2009.09.22] presscon for beauty of korea

yea, wuri yong joon showed up. and gotta say he didn't look as sickly as i'd feared.

what am i talking about? am talking about wuri yong joon showing up at the press conference for the release of his book, Journey to Explore the Beauty of Korea.

It was held at the main auditorium at the National Central Museum at Yongsan, Seoul this afternoon.

think the media had a field day. the news of him being hospitalized only heightened the anticipation.

and of course, the fans too turned out in full force to lend support to our man. how could we not be there when he's completed his first book? and how could we not be there when he's given so much of himself to his project. and how could we not be there to let him know that no matter how long he's gone 'gallivanting' away from his 'day job', we would all still be here.

as i was writing those stuff about how the fans would still be here and all, these words from a really really really old article came to mind... in fact, that's one of my all-time faves when it comes to articles and passages on wuri yong joon.

... omitted....

Jung Yoonhee, who made 'City of Yongjoon' in June or 2001 before the WS started, analyzed characteristics of BYJ fans as follows:

"BYJ's fans are mostly single-minded. They don't sway. They usually lie low but they actively support BYJ when he appears. Don't take my word for it because it is well known throughout portal sites. They say 'BYJ fans consider themselves as family and last as such for life.' I think BYJ is blessed (to have fans like them). He has this inexplicable charm that attracts people. It's an intense charisma which others don't have. He was born with it."

... omitted....

When I chatted with members of 'Baetomisa', they said BYJ's fans stay quiet under water but they come out when needed. A fan with ID 'darkred' summarized BYJ fans' disposition as follows:

"Do you know how Buddhist monks were when Japan invaded Korea in 1592? They were ordinary monks in the temple in peaceful times, but when invaded they fought with enemies leaving everything behind.. and when the war ended they went back to being monks as if nothing happened.."

intrigued? want to read more? the above is just an extract from the part of a very very very long article back in 2005 that actually examined us, bae fans!

what i've quoted is actually from
part 6 of the article. i will give you all the links at the end of this posting, k?

and of course, i'd noticed that he's cut his hair.

i'm still not happy. it ain't short enough. but hey, at least he's shown to us that he's not all that sentimental about his hair and he's cut it already! hehe, i've a feeling this man probably can't stand this current hairstyle that's neither here nor there, long nor short, and my guess is it won't be too long before he cuts it shorter.

go, yong joon, go!

if you do a frank shin, i think i'll love you 829 times more, haha!

he really has lost a lot of weight. i hope he doesn't lose anymore weight. please be healthy, please eat well, k?

ahhhh, those great long legs!

close up... hmmm, i'd rather look at his legs than his hair today...

inside... whoa, looks mighty crowded!

p.s. here's the article links that i've promised you. this article first appeared in the january 2005 issue of the korean magazine, monthly chosun. penned by root lee (lee geunmi), whom i believe the older fans would remember as a journalist who had written quite many memorable articles on wuri yong joon. and some might also remember her as the woman who was lucky enough to do a self-ca with him on a cellphone.

Epicenter of Yonsama fever- BYJ's Korean fans:

Part 3 - BYJ, Image of a Prince on a White Horse
Part 4 - Emergence of Housewife Fans
