love, love, love...
i'd just blogged about wuri yong joon's lacquer work here.ahh... seems like this piece is actually entitled LOVE.

how do you see this? what do you think he's trying to express here?
that love is alive? that love is vibrant? that love gives everything a bounce? or that love is fluid and hard to pinpoint exactly? that love changes in form and intensity at various points?
or is he even trying to express what he thinks love is?
or are these two hearts in love? or does the work signify two lifelines coming together? or what....?
what about the background? why the background? what does it say?
what is he trying to say? what thoughts are crossing his mind when he's creating this?
or perhaps he has achieved what many artists have failed even after years of trying? that with just this piece of work, he's able to trigger our minds to examine within ourselves what love means to us?
and perhaps at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what the artist was thinking, or what inspired him to create this... coz sometimes, art just means different things to different people, depending on our own cultural context, our own experience, and sometimes even depending on our current state of mind. coz the same piece of work may jolly well be interpreted by the same person in different ways at different points in time.
penny for your thoughts...?
and still on love... i saw this on flowerbossa's blog, and decided to repost it here.
mr jun's son singing!!
it's his first time singing in front of such a big group, he says...
he's singing from the beginning to the end from WLS! yea, that story about first love, that story that never seems to grow old on us.
incidentally, it was sensation playing in the background there.

and you know, listening to jun junior kindda made me recall how i used to get soooo... excited just by this song. seems like a long time ago...
anyway, let's relive those days (and possibly nights too!) by listening to the song performed by the original singer, ryu.
p.s. remember who pyo jung rok-ssi (표종록) is? yea, he's the CEO of keyeast, and who's a lawyer friend of wuri yong joon's and they share some similar interests.
he was appointed about a year ago, you can click here to read all about it.

i suppose it's alright to share it here; keyeast is a publicly listed company, so this info is supposedly public anyway.
but seems like he's resigned yesterday (22nd july). there's a new ceo onboard already apparently, kim gi hong-ssi (김기홍).
wondering who this is? errr... suffice to say for now he IS related to wuri yong joon.

Dear princess,
what an interesting subject. To me, looks like Yong Joon is trying to express love starts out with 2 people are red hot, deeply in love, then they go through ups and downs and dance a bit apart. As time progress, love is fading and at the end they go separate ways? I sure hope this is not Yong joon's view or experience on love as Mr. JYB mentioned before Yong Joon's work reflects that he is lonely.
My optimistic interpretation will be 2 people are deeply in love to start, their minds meet at the same starting point. But they can still maintain their independence and pursue their own dreams, they move in the same direction through ups and downs (brightness and darkness) until the end, they remain to be together.
Hehe, like you said, art means different things to differnt people. I truly hope one day to see all his lacquer works on display. Thanks for all your wonderful posts and keeping us updated on Yong Joon's news even though you are super busy. Please take care!
love .....jaime
Hi!
I think BYJ lacquer works for me represent our life is like a circle sometimes we are down and sometimes we are up, just don't lose hope without this barrier in our life what is life for? Life is one shot(KHJ), that's why you do your very best because opportunity knocks only once.
Thanks BB and take care.
Dear princess,
I see his painting same like our lady Jaime's optimistic interpretation. Begining of the love was so beautiful, bright, full of excitement, and sharing the ups and downs together and at the end there is still love and sharing, but not that much excitement, more stable and calm ...
That's how he potraits the life long love, how deep and simple ...
love,
Y.
Hi!
...this also represent something that he looking forward for his lifetime partner in life with the same direction for their future...in the end makes them one.
...continuation from 2nd from above commenter...Thanks again BB and take care.
