[non BYJ] love yourself, love life
you know, i always tell my staff, it can't be sunday everyday.yes, in life, there's always the ups and the downs. and yes, we will feel sad, helpless and hopeless sometimes when it really hits rock-bottom, or when we think it's hit rock-bottom. but hey, no matter how hard life seems to be right now, that too shall pass, you know?
of course, when we're in a period of doldrums or state of hopelessness when everything just seems so impossible, it's easy to just want to give up. and when we're in those state of mind, sometimes it seems like the darkness lasts forever and ever. and yea, it will feel as though we will never, ever come out of that darkness.
but really, believe me, that too shall pass. you just have to bite your lip and bear with it.
if there's something within your control that you can try to make things better, then do it. but if it's something that's out of your control and you can't do anything about it, then don't fret about it. if you need to ask for help, ask away. if you need to talk to someone, talk away. and if you don't want to talk at all and just want to go away to clear your head, then just do it.
whatever you do, just don't give in to that moment of weakness. when you feel like the world is crashing in on you, go talk it over with someone close. and hey, your life may be your own, but no man is an island. and if you do take your own life, there will always be someone else around you who will be impacted by your decision to end your life.
i've always thought mental strength is immensely important. when all else fails you, you can only look inwards within yourself and draw strength from yourself. you must love yourself, and you must love life.
i remember blogging abit about life, mortality of life and suicides last year... and today, yet another korean actress has taken her own life.
choi jin sil has hung herself. click here for more details.

it appears that she's terribly bothered by those malicious rumours about her being a loan shark to a close friend who had also killed himself not so long ago. yea, am talking about ahn jae hwan.

i really think that's sooooo... not worth dying for. why bother about what others are saying? especially others who don't even know you? to me, what truly matters is what the people who do know me think. as for those who don't know me, well, they don't know me, so who are they to judge? and why should i care what they think?
what's more important to me is to be true to myself, and know myself that i've not done anything that i can't face up to.
on another note, did you know that south korea has the highest suicide rate amongst the OECD countries? and, in south korea, suicide is the fourth highest cause of death. and oh, the latest statistics has it that suicide rates in south korea is at its highest ever, now.
please, love yourself, love life.
life's just way too short to just focus on the negatives... there's alot of goodness in life if you care to look. if you only focus on the negatives, of course you will only see the minuses. but be positive, think positive, and you will be able to see the beauty in simple things, you will be able to experience pleasure in little joys, and you will be able to live more, love more.

hi princess,
what a coincidence that we both blog about this. It indeed saddens me to think someone would commit the act to end her own life. She seemed to have support of good friends and family and the biggest reason to live - her 2 young kids.
thank you for the good advice, yes, don't focus on the negatives. that's exactly what i did today which made me feel so low. ok, i should think positive and appreciate the simple beauty in life :)
good night! love .. jaime
Hi bb,
Really appreciate your message on "positive thinking". At times it is very hard to think positively when many things are going wrong. Her divorce must have been hard on her as well. I wonder if she has a truly strong social network, which makes a big difference when you are down. Often times we have many friends but few truly close friends with whom we could have really in-depth conversations. I wonder if counseling is popular in Korea. It is so sad to see such a beautiful lady with young kids giving up totally.
Thanks to your message. I will focus on 2 positive things today. One of them being "IT IS FRIDAY! " :)
Hope you have a pleasant day!
Carrie
Dear bb,
Hope you are feeling much better. Thanks for posting this. I was so shocked to hear abt this news, and based on what i have read. It seems that CJS seems to have quite a difficult life but she had been through those much challenging time. Sigh... it's really unworthy for ending her life just because of rumours and further, suicide is never the solution of the problem either.....
There's so many sad news in Korean entertainment stage lately.
Think positive!!!
Take care.

Hi bb,
A REALLY good piece! Thank you for sharing with us.
I know the ups and downs are inevitable in the routine life which all of us need to face bravely. Thinking the "downs" from an optimistic way, we will find a totally different situation.
Will try to trans the ET Mall CF filming to English if I have enough time during the weekend. hehe.
Have a great weekend!
Lynn
This should be required reading for everyone in blogdom.
hi jaime!
hehe, me just left a super-duper long comment on your blog... sorry!! wasn't quite talking about the suicide case, was leaving you a comment about the BOF notice... :p
and... hope you're feeling better today. and good luck with the tix for the yokohama concert tomorrow!
hi hi carrie!
here's an even better reason to be happy now! IT'S THE WEEKEND!!
thanks for reading my rambling post...
yea, xiaoyi, i also read about her unfortunate life... in fact, when the news broke previously about her being physically abused by her ex-husband, i followed that news too. i remember seeing pics of her face bruised and all. tough life... if only she had toughened up.
but we're not her, and we don't know the facts of her situation... we're in no position to judge her or anyone else for that matter. for all we know, she could be suffering from depression, anxiety, or whatever, and needed professional or medical help...
the point of my post was not to say she was wrong to have ended her own life... i just wanted to remind everyone to be positive and think happy thoughts :)
hi hi lynn!
thanks for taking the time to read my piece. hope in some small way, it reminded some of us to be thankful for the small blessings in our life :)
have a great weekend!
hi shelly,
i really really hope all of us will not dwell on the negatives for an overly long time. life's really too short for that. just cry or whine or curse abit when things don't go right, and then... move on. life does go on :)
Dear bb,
Yea, we definitely can't judge for her and wouldn't be able to understand the actual situation. Sigh... just feeling sad for her.
Enjoy your weekend!
xiaoyi
