following YJ's trail...

hey, remember i started a series of blog posts in the beginning of this year that trailed wuri yong joon throughout his showbiz? can't remember? or you're new to my blog? okay, okay, will just jolt your memory abit...

chinese fan, close2yj, started a project of collecting and collating all news and information related to yong joon and writing a series that's akin to yong joon's showbiz life so far. she's still going on strongly, i might add, she's completed up to the untold scandal, i think. april snow should be next.

anyway, i really really really enjoyed what she's written, and i thought you guys would enjoy it too, so i've decided to translate bits of it. sorry, i won't be translating everything, and i won't be translating verbatim, word for word. so whilst close2yj's account is factual and everything, my version will draw facts from her writing as well as from my own recollection of things. and of course, i wouldn't be able to resist adding my own two cents' when it comes to parts that i feel for.

for your easy reference, i will update this particular blog post as and when i've finished writing each part. yup yup, i will update the links. to make things even easier for all of you, will flag this posting on the sidebar of this blog, under 'bb recommends'.

Hi bb,

Thanks for providing the links to these articles. I can see his life stories slowly unveiled from Papa to First Love to Barefooted Youth. All the hardships and injuries that he endured during the course and how he emerged as a better actor. Together your articles, I also enjoy reading 'BYJ story' from Quilt : series of 8 articles written by BYJ himself for the Dailysports Newspaper in 1997. He revealed so much of his inner thoughts and private world. Every time I miss him, I will refer back to his own writings. Such a warm feeling!

Even though First Love is a great drama classic and Barefooted Youth showcased his beauty at his best, I find I am constantly playing back Papa. Maybe because it is a light hearted romantic comedy that is easy to watch and stop anytime. Or maybe because there are many scenes that BYJ showed emotional struggle towards his ex-wife. His serious countenance and hesitation to express love again for Se-Young make my heart ache. This drama conveys that marriage cannot survive on love alone. A person needs to find his/her true self and be able to stand alone before entering a lifelong partnership
with someone else. So obvious yet so often missed when you are blinded by love!

You are right, BYJ definitely makes the most dashing dad at all times. He looked so young and gentle in Papa. I wonder who the cute and lucky Sae-beoyl is? She is probably 16 years old by now, must be a beautiful young woman. Do you know if she continue her acting? Would really like to hear her account of BYJ in Papa. I notice BYJ always stroked her cheeks and hands tenderly during the drama, such a kind gentleman!

Sorry for this lengthy comments. I guess I am a certified Papa fan (my son too, he loves the kids in there).
